All residents need to have their own "stash" of items on hand. What I do is provide information for the second part of preparedness--Disaster experience shows there will be two kinds of people after a disaster--victims and rescuers.
Disaster is described as any event which overwhelms the resources. When
a disaster hits, that's no time to be asking if your neighbor has bandages while you or a loved one may be bleeding; or if a tree falls it would be good information to know your next door neighbor has a chain saw. We can prepare your neighborhood with such plans as to where to place grills, latrine, how to perform light search and rescue (demonstrate cribbing), form a water brigade, etc.
